About This Test

The anti-CCP (anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide) antibodies test is primarily used to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an autoimmune condition affecting joints. It detects antibodies targeting protein fragments commonly found in RA patients' joints. The test is more specific to RA than rheumatoid factor (RF) and can identify the condition before clinical symptoms appear. It's also valuable for assessing disease severity and prognosis.

Recommended for those with persistent joint pain and stiffness (especially hands, wrists, knees), patients experiencing swelling, fatigue, or morning stiffness lasting over 30 minutes, individuals with suspected RA or family history of the condition, those with unclear inflammatory arthritis symptoms.
